Police Shooting of Black People is a National Issue

On Easter Sunday morning, MSNBC’s Joy Reid broadcast a show (AM Joy) on the police shooting of innocent Black men and women as a national issue, not a ‘local’ or ‘case-by-case’ issue. Panel members include Prof. Phillip Goffe from the John Jay College Center for Policing Equity and Maya Wiley, Senior Vice President for Social Justice at the New School, New York City. Panel members who spoke on this issue emphasized that many responsible police officers and administrators want this addressed as a national issue, as an issue of police training and the prosecution of police brutality, because they want to improve their professional reputations as police officers.
