In the last 18 months. that I’ve lived in Halifax, my life has felt like it’s in pieces, all over the place. I’m half-way in between everything, between my dissertation and my teaching, between Fredericton and Halifax, between sanghas, between houses, between relationships. And that’s the way it is. Buddhism tells me that life will often feel like it’s in pieces, and not to try to put it back together in some kind of false “whole” or “oneness.” Let the fragments be fragments. It is so much easier to create something new out of fragments, especially when they’re not glued to something else.
