Mother of the Buddhas

I’m beginning to understand the connection between shunyata and compassion, or love. Primordial emptiness is Prajnaparamita, Mother of the Buddhas. In Hindu, it is Shakti, it is the Primordial Void, it is the feminine divine. Because it is formless, out of it arises all forms. If there were some fundamental form to it, that form would limit what other kinds of forms it could generate. Because it is formless, it is totally open and free to create infinitely diverse forms. ‘Empty of form’ means that it creates form without judgement of any kind, like nature itself, as we experience it on this planet. There are no good or bad forms; they all arise from pure formless emptiness. Though it is empty of form, it has many qualities. It is pure, it is limitless energy, it is the infinitely creative force that continuously brings forth beings, and it is the feminine divine. Because it is without form and without judgement, it is the ultimate source of unconditional love and boundless generosity. Thus, primordial emptiness is the essence of love and compassion. I don’t fear her anymore. I embrace her; I am embraced by her.
