Gen Z Revolutions in South Asia

In the last three years, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal have experienced youth-led revolutions that caused the toppling of their respective governments and transformation of their countries. Himal Magazine, which covers politics and culture in South Asia, presented a panel of analysts from each of these countries to discuss why these youth-led revolutions occurred and what has happened since these movements began. The panel discusses the unique conditions that led to the uprisings and the similarities amongst these movements. The role of the internet in facilitating these youth movements are also discussed. Himal Mag’s October issue has in-depth articles on these “youth quakes”. Having listened to this broadcast, I think there is a lot here that resonates with youth movements and the political turmoil that is happening across the world.
