Mass Deportation: The Pushback Begins in Worcester

Neighbors in a Worcester neighborhood came out in force to stop ICE and other Federal agents from arresting and detaining a grandmother and her daughter, who is a teenage mother with her baby. ICE and Police also arrested a bystander and harassed a City Counselor because they tried to prevent what was possibly an illegal arrest. ICE had no warrant to arrest the grandmother. The video footage below is from a Worcester Police body cam.

There are many details and layers to this story, which I will not go into here. It is a complex and evolving case for which we will probably not know the outcome for several months. What I am emphasizing here is that friends and neighbors can call out ICE illegal detentions and demand justice and due process of law for all immigrants..

On Mother’s Day, Worcester residents organized a protest against ICE detentions at City Hall, “Hands Off Our Mothers”
