The Next System

The next system will be ecologically sustainable, powered by renewable energy, based on cooperative enterprise, sharing, interconnectedness, local to global. In the future, no one will have a “job”. The majority of people will be involved in organic food and fibre production on cooperative farms. People will work in self-organized cooperative teams whose goal is to create something necessary and beautiful. The wealth of productivity realized by the cooperative enterprise will be shared to pay for public needs, the rest shared among workers. But the basics necessities of life; food, clothes, housing, medical care and education will be socialized and distributed equitably. Money will disappear, as it nearly has already. Instead, people will measure and exchange their labour by ‘service shares’, now called ‘time dollars.’
